Joint party - two presents?

A friend of mine is having a joint 3rd birthday party for her son (A) and a friend's daughter (B). I know child A but not child B, should i buy presents for both children or just the one I know...

Buy only for the child you know. A card would suffice for the child you don't know.

I would just buy a present for the child I know and possibly a card/bag of sweets for the other one but not as a rule.
