Can you help me with ideas for celebrating DD's birthday - she'll be 8 and I was hoping NOT to have a party this year

What have you done to celebrate your 8 year old's birthday?

Taken friends out somewhere?

Small gathering at home?

I'm hoping to keep numbers low. 4 or 5 friends.

what about the cinema and then pizza hut?

These two places are not near each other. I'm thinking of succumbing to a bowling party and then narrowing down numbers next year where I'll just take one or two of DD's friends out for a treat somewhere.

My DTDs will be 8 the end of the month. They're inviting a friend each and we're going to the local swimming pool (with waves & slides), then back home for a birthday tea. Just need to figure out how to get rid of arrange alternative entertainment for youngest dd. :)

How about a dvd and take away chinese or pizza with birthday cake

One special friend and a 'posh'(in town) resturant. My girl chose an all you can eat chinese Smile, but she felt very grown up. Then home for cake.
