Vegetarian 40th?

If you were friends with a vegetarian couple, who don't cook meat for house guests or children and you were invited to a 40th birthday in a marquee with catered food, how would you feel if the food was all veggie?

I wouldn't mind a bit. But then, I'm a veggie Grin.

Seriously, don't sweat it. We entertain a lot and I often do big vegetarian bashes. Mostly people don't even notice, and if they do it is generally amazement that "this vegetarian food is alright really isn't it?!"

If people can't manage one night without meat they need help.

If people are going to feel resentful that the party you have organised and slaved over isn't exactly to their taste, they needn't bother coming next time. But no one will mind.

If they are veggies and have gone for the catered option, I imagine the food will be fab rather than the "veggie lasagne" option that you get with "normal" catering.

I think most non-veggies think that veggie food is delicious when done well. However if there are any very traditional (usually male Smile) eat and two-veg types, they might do a bit of muttering!

wouldn't have a problem at all.....why would anyone?

if you are lucky enough to be invited to a celebration, and are not paying for the privelidge you have to go with the flow i think. Smile

is it your birthday because?

I wouldn't mind in the slightest. Why would anyone? In fact, I probably wouldn't even notice as I tend to find the meat options at parties rather dull and avoid them anyway - sausage rolls, pork pies, chicken drumsticks etc... yawn.

I agree with chimchar.

Not my birthday. I'm not veggie. My friend is organising a surprise party for his partner and asked me how omnivores would feel about this. She is normally in charge when they entertain so he feels a bit clueless. Being an ex-veggie, it wouldn't bother me but I wasn't sure this would be the general consensus.

I'd think, can't wait to dig in! (And I am not veggie.)

Thanks, based on the answers of 5 complete (AFAIK) strangers, I have told him it is a great idea Grin
