70's/ 80's theme

I've got to go to a 40th birthday party and the theme is 70's/ 80's - either just dress in the style of or a character. Any good suggestion? I am NOT good at fancy dress at all - need one for me and DH.

Could you go as a famous couple from the 70s/80s? Sonny and Cher? Terry and June?
