Need ideas of things that come in pairs for party game

DS is having a Lego/Super Hero party for his 6th birthday. We are going to play a game where everyone is given a card with a picture on (because I can't assume they will all be able to read) and they have to find the child who has the other card in the pair. With a prize for the first one.

These are the pairs I've come up with so far, and I'm hoping that the collective brains on mumsnet will come up with a few more. Thanks.

Batman & Robin
Mario & Luigi
Knife & fork
Hand & glove
Foot & sock

Any more? I'm sure there are loads. Smile Thanks.

I've got a few more!

Dennis & Gnasher
Lady & Tramp
Wallace & Grommit
Pooh & Piglet
Hat & scarf

Please let me know if you think are any rubbish ones and/or may be too difficult for 5 or 6 years olds. Thanks.

ds is 6 and wouldn't know Batman&Robin of Mario&Luigi (actually I don't know who Mario&Luigi are either). Maybe best to avoid popular culture-type ones unless you know the kids well and know the sort of things they are likely to know (if you see what I mean).

Raindrops and umbrella (similar to bigchris's suggestion)
Football and goal
Three pigs and big bad wolf

Maybe it's because DS is mad about super heroes so knows them. Mario & Luigi are the Super Mario Brothers.

Buzz Lightyear & Woody

ooooh, great game idea. hadn't thought of this for kids party, will remember this!

Thanks. It's in a book I've got as an ice-breaker so I think I'll do it first, to loosen them all up!

Although I'm wondering whether to modify it by having groups of things instead of pairs? Like characters from Toy Story, Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Ben 10 etc. But worried that all the kids might not know who the Joker and C3PO are ( which is probably likely at 5/6). Maybe save that modification for another year, when they're a bit older.

A few more I've come up with (for purposes of the thread):

Ariel & Flounder
Nemo & Dory (though not strictly accurate as it should be Marlin)
Witch & black cat

Horse and cart
Bat and ball

My children wouldn't recognise many characters from the films you mention except for Toy Story. I think you're right to keep it very simple with things everyone would recognise.

Socks and shoes
oranges and lemons
strawberries and cream
bread and butter
salt and pepper
Dog and cat
top and bottom
head and feet
pen and pencil
mickey and minnie mouse
king and queen
prince and princess
cup and saucer
wind and rain
bucket and spade

Some of them might get confused with your pairs - it may seem logical for a 5 year old to put hand and foot together for example (both parts of body)

Has anyone said

Dick and Dom
Ant and Dec
Tweedledum and Tweedledee
Snow white and seven dwarves
Peter Pan and Tinkerbell
Harry Potter and Hermione (bit grown up may be)

Game might be over in a flash; I'd make them hunt for one card each first to make it last longer!!

Have fun!
