dd is 5 next month and wanted a princess party, have extended to a few boys so will be princes too

would appreciate advise or criticism on the following ideas

i have put fancy dress on the invite but thought we would also have cardboard crowns out for decorating? Any other ideas for a carft/sit down activity? I dont want to do cakes again since I dont think these really get eaten after. Someone suggested pich tea bscuits recorating but think these might be siilarly unpopular after the event?

I have got a pin the tail on the donkey (will make him into the royal steed with some tin foil!)

have got plastic gold coins for a kinds treasure hunt

will also do a pass the parcel - not sure how to/whether to make this royal themed?

is this enough games? it is a 2 hour party including lunch/cake etc

for food i have got silver platters and plates, my nan has a silver cake stand I can borrow and I have those little plastic wine glasses which I am planning to decorate.

Any other ideas?

Oh and for party bags I am going for simple, bottle of bubbles, a craft set from wilkos, tiny packet of sweets and bit of cake, may tie balloons to handles.

everything i see in shops is very pink and princessey and I want to avoid that and make it more unisex since there will be both boys and girls.

Did similar for dd a few years back plus had a bouncy castle and dragon pinata. Playmobil figures for cake (you can also get PM card games and jigsaws for knights/princesses/castle as prizes)

thanks that reminds me i have a mini bouncy castle that should still suit them this year.

we had a pinata last year and it was a bit of a flop cos it took so bloody long to break open.

thanks for other ideas
