This is a support thread for our young adults post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting, and their results ( or life updates for those who went into work or have had results earlier). It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, uni vs employment please don't within this thread.

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue. We were previously on the secondary board and then further education, now we shall be here in 'Parents of Adult Children' gulp

Our DS/DD may continue down various pathways ( employment, apprenticeships, higher ed). Be warned there might be lots of 'Uni Freshers' chat this time of year. My experience is that everyone is welcomed wherever, whatever their child is doing we have some in work, gap years , apprenticeships etc too. Lots of contributors with different experiences and always sympathy and advice to be had

Thanks for the new thread @OrangeCinnamonLatte and list @singingstones. If I could be cheeky, could you change DD to Combined Honours in Social Science (Anthropology & Geography) next time you need to paste the list in, as she managed to successfully swap course once she got her A Level grades.

Checking in :-) Fab news for dd @Benji! If we are requesting minor changes, Ds is actually joint maths/comp sci @singingstones no idea why I’ve suddenly decided that accuracy is important!

I have neglected to pass on some good news for Dd. I think I said she was seeking school experience? She managed to get herself signed up to an agency and has had a couple of paid shifts in a mainstream school (i thoughtbshe was going to primary) but SEN setting , working with kids who are non verbal. She absolutely loves it so far!
It ties in with her interests in music therapy/vocal coaching/health and poss future teaching of course.
I think she is so bloody brave and I'm quite proud. Even more chuffed that she did all the admin and sorted training herself! Lol.

Yes, through an agency but seems to be going to the same setting mostly at the moment. She sent me a photo of herself absolutely covered in paint the other day!
