I have DD aged almost 4 and DS aged almost 2. They are so in my face it's unbelievable. Daughter is at the stage where she asks questions, comments on the minutiae of life constantly and, as soon as I try to do something needs me to stop it to do something for her. Son is at the stage of refusing to do what he's asked. They have in common that they are both very noisy and pretend to cry if they don't get own way. When we're out, daughter ensures that I can not talk to anyone else by constantly interrupting and be rude to our host. I'm finding this parenting malarkey draining, unrewarding, stressful. I'm constantly shouting at them and basically turning into my mum. I appreciate these things pass but I'm dreading a long summer with them. Please someone give me the answer.

I think everyone goes through times where they feel like this about looking after dc. At times like this it is really good to have a day out ON YOUR OWN to put things back into perspective.
My dc are now 3 and 5, so one year on from you. I can honestly say it gets sooo much easier, they play together lots without my input. I am actually looking forward to summer this year!

Thanks for replying. I think I do need a day on my own but I really wouldn't know what to do with myself - quite sad really!

I'm sure things will change... someday

Go shopping and buy something that will make you feel like you and not just mummy. Some new makeup, underwear or a nice skirt, then get a babysitter and go out for a lovely meal.
