only at the weekend...

TubbyDuffs · 07/07/2010 14:32

Prefer a drink on my own with the kids in bed to be honest.

thedollshouse · 07/07/2010 14:32

Yes my Friday night glass of wine has never tasted so good. I looked forward to it just as much when I was working though.

drink with my DC? No, he's too young.

Wordsonascreen · 07/07/2010 14:33

I tend to drink without the children (ie when they are in bed) but yes

A little too frequently TBH.

Yes, a cup of tea that I can drink while it's hot and that hasn't been reheated in the microwave twice.

lovecheese · 07/07/2010 14:34

Did I word that wrong? arse. I meant after a day with your children do you look forward to a drink!

SandyBits · 07/07/2010 14:34

No
Tbh I can think of nothing more lonely than having a glass of wine by myself every night. And I can see how all too quickly one glass could become 2. But I am not much of a drinker anyway. I do relish drinking a cup of tea hot when they're asleep though.

compo · 07/07/2010 14:35

What do you mean a drink with your kids?
Do you mean when they come home you all sit round the kitchen table telling each other how your day has been with juice and a biscuit ?!

Shamechanger · 07/07/2010 14:36

No I often wish I still smoked though.

IndigoSky · 07/07/2010 14:37

Not as much as when I used to get home from work every night!

I don't usually drink Monday - Thursday but I do look forward to a glass of something nice when dh comes home from work on a Friday evening.

sethstarkaddersmum · 07/07/2010 14:37

it's not the day with the kids that does it here, it's the putting them to bed.
when I've put them to bed I want a drink IMMEDIATELY.

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/07/2010 14:38

Not a drink, but I do like to sit down without the constant sound of "Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumy"

compo · 07/07/2010 14:39

Oops x posts

I don't think having a glass of wine on your own makes you lonely
that's like saying lone parents can't have a drink at home in case it turns into a problem

I drink because I enjoy it not because my dh is having a drink or my mate
I all about me not peer pressure or sheep behaviour

thumbwitch · 07/07/2010 14:39

lol lovecheese - never mind, it made me smile!

Some days yes, other days not so. ACtually, DH has been away the last 3 days and I haven't had a glass of wine at all - sometimes it's more DH that creates the need in me than DS! (that's bad, right...?)

IndigoSky · 07/07/2010 14:40

Lol @ Noah.

In our house it's mummeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

bluecardi · 07/07/2010 14:40

I have a tea when my kids are all in bed

SandyBits · 07/07/2010 14:42

Compo, I am a lone parent, and the thought of drinking alone just makes me think of someone a bit sad tbh. But I am very uncool in that respect I suppose. And tbh, I don't need a drink to unwind. For me, drinking is social, something I do with friends.

I look forward to DH buggering off to the pub on Friday nights, with DD in bed bang on time anda nice quiet evening to myself.

It definitely involves something nice to eat, but rarely involves wine tbh - especially so far this year as am 6 months pg, so I'll answer again in about 4/5 months time!!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 07/07/2010 16:09

OOOOOH yes, if fact, I am such a bad mum and it is so hot, I've been starting before she goes to bed.

megapixels · 07/07/2010 16:12

No, I don't drink but I like the peace and quiet when they're in bed.

Morloth · 07/07/2010 16:49

I don't always have an alcoholic drink but my goodness I love 8pm.

DH is not usually home until 9pm so I have a whole hour all by myself!

Cointreau over ice with a squeeze of lime...yum.

MrsMc82 · 07/07/2010 20:14

I'm not a proper SAHM, just temporarily whilst I'm on mat leave but... HELL YEAH!!! And DS is only 5mo!

In fact before I had DS I NEVER used to drink at home (even before being pg) would usally just have lots of tea even if dh was having a beer but now its like a reward for making it thru the day in one piece!
