my 4 yr old has always been a good sleeper but has recently developed the habit of getting up at 6am. She used to sleep 7-7. the trouble is that the 7-6am routine seems to have stuck. We take her back to bed at 6am and she stays in her room but she doesn't go back to sleep. She is v tired by 7pm and well ready for bed. I tried a week of keeping her up till 7.15/7.30pm but she still woke at 6am and was EVEN more tired.

Any tips? Do I just have to wait till winter? She is increasingly fretful in the day and v tired to complete basic tasks when she has to walk to and from the school run with child minder several times a day when I'm at work. Got lots of tantrums and bahaviour issues that a clearly tiredness related. She is a good girl and tries hard to please alot of the time. Any ideas?

My 5 year old is early waker (5am) even when clock changes he goes back to same time after couple of nights showing just his body clock. Once started reception he became very tired therefore tired behaviur issues. I moved his bedtime to an earlier point now he is in bed just after 6 so getting same amount of sleep therefore happier child.

i had a feeling that was going to be what people would say. have employed her sticker chart and said she mustn't get out of bed till she hears her dad's alarm clock at 6.50 which she did this morning even though the baby was up at 6.30. Hurray!
