Decided to give ds allowance so that he could manage money as before used to give when needed £ and wanted to teach management ,responsibility etc. Our Ds is very sporty and fishes most weekends as well as other sport.
Since giving allowance ,he has suddenly said he will give up fishing as wants to save £ for a wii game !! this has totally backfired on us as instead of havibg 6 hours of fresh air he is mooching round house trying to save money !!!!
H says we cant give allowance to encorage independance and then controll it ie make him go fishing/determine wot spent on !! which i totall understand- but this is not good !!!
Shall i say we will pay for all sports including fishing and all other stuff he pays for ? to do this we wd then have to reduce allowance - currently £ 10 pw or cdnt afford.Wd really appriciate advice - feel lkie ive put him off his activities !!

How old is he? I would say you have to stick to what you agreed. The Wii game will be bought then he will get bored. Presumably if he loves fishing that much he will miss it sooner or later?

I would pay for the sports and give not so much £££
