Was using Ecover non-bio but Asda seems to have stopped doing it Now using Fairy, but contains perfumes, and optical brighteners and all the stuff you're not meant to use.

Is this [mini panic!] a problem ?

What is the best "standard" liquid to use?

powder is better for your machine iirc - more advice here

I use Persil non bio because it's hwhat I use for everything else, half recommended dose, and nappies don;t seem to suffer

Have you tried soap nuts? I'm a recent convert! They really do get the nappies clean. I usually add some white vinegar and tea tree oil to the rinse cycle to soften and scent.
I use them for most of our washing now and they're good on everything except the worst stains but as long as I pre-treat with Vanish, it all comes out clean.

I use Bold which is what I use for all the laundry.
