Is my baby unwell? Coughing...

She coughs. She's been doing it a couple of weeks. She's not unwell in herself, no temperature, good appetite, sleeping well etc, but she coughs. She's 5 and a half months.

Has anyone else's baby done this? It's not a wet cough, and often she'll smile whens she does it. Is it just another new noise she's discovered she can make?

Just wanting to know if all babies do this before asking the doc about it on Thurs.

I'd chat to the Dr about it if you're going anyway. However, our DD coughs for attention because when she does it, people tend to go 'cough, cough, cough' in response! I think she likes it.

My DD is 15w and I think she coughs for attention too. I did get it checked out by the GP (although she didn't do it once in the surgery) but tbh it sort of starts as a cough and develops into a cry if I don't give her the attention she wants right away!

In fact she's doing it now so I better go to her!

One of my baby books says this is normal & done for attenton from around 5 months or so.

My 6 m o does it a lot, not particularly to get attention, I don't think, but just because it's a fun noise he's able to make, like blowing raspberries. But I do think we've encouraged it by coughing back when he does it.
