Legs between cot rails???

Today I put down my 4 month old DD in the cot for her nap. As it was so hot i did not put her in the sleeping bag. Switched monitor on and went downstairs.

All of a sudden she starts crying at the top of her voice I rushed upstairs and found her leg was trapped between the cot rails!

How can I avoid that?

It is too hot to sleep in sleeping bag, I was advised not to put any bumpers in the cot until she is 1 y old.

Did this happen to any of you?

Thanks...

It happens to my 11 month old quite a lot. He cries, I go upstairs and extricate him, give him a cuddle and he goes back to sleep. I'm not sure if there's anything else you can do really.

You can get mesh cot bumper stuff from jojomaman I think. But I'm not bothering.

airwrap

or you could get a 0.5 tog grobag, they're basically just sheets with zips on.

I've had this with all three of my boys, ds3 still does it when he is rolling around. You can't really stop it happening unless you use a sleeping bag.

You can buy really thin sleeping bags 0.5 tog suitable for summer if it is affecting your DD sleeping.

Thanks for sharing. It does not bother her sleep or anything else. She just got surprised I think that she couldnt move. It was more me that got shocked as I thought she might twist her leg!

AS long as it is safe it is fine!

thanks again.

My GD did this, my DD could not get her out. I will say though it only happened once. I cant see what you can do other than a bumper.

That's what I was thinking about JarethTheGoblinKing. Thanks for the link.

A friend's toddler got a leg jammed between the bars once and her DH had to cut her out with a saw!

Jareth:
Thanks a lot for the AIRWRAP! Really good solution to all of this! Never heard of it before.

Did you use it?
I think I am going to get it.

Its something I hunted for when DS was tiny. I used to have dreams about this mythical product when DS would wake up for the umpteenth time with his arms in the bars.

I'll def get it if we have another one - I like that it's really flexible so it can't be used for climbing on, and obviously it's breathable material too.

(no, i'm not making any money from them I can just see how useful they are)
