I collect my daughters friend they are 9 from school and take 3 days a week. I dont normally pick her up today. Her mum text me to say can I pick her up today. I said yes thinking they were working late. It is not that conventient as my daughter has a friend coming for tea already. She then text me to say thank it was because her partner wanted to watch the football. I dont mind picking her up and I dont want paying by feel taken advantage of now.

why dont you say something like "thats ok your dp wont mind having my dd while I have a facial/shop/cinema next week"

No point really - you agreed to do it, it was your incorrect assumption that they were working late - bit late to be annoyed about it because your assumption was wrong.

However - clueless has a good idea if you feel the need to get some retribution.

I know thumbwitch that how I feel I just feel tricked as I only ever look after her while they are working. We are not overly friendly. Just I knew they were a bit hard up and thought I would be kind to and help out a couple of days a week. If she had said can you look after her while my partner watches football, I would of said NO my daughter has a friend for tea. Its just the way it was done. I am hormonal and have other bigger family things going on at the moment maybe I will keep quiet. Doesn't help that I hate football with a passion so probably resent it even more.

It shouldn't matter why they needed you to do the pick up but I do understand why it does. Just make sure you ask why next time if you feel it is a problem for you.

I've also picked up a few extras today because dads were watching the football. I think quite a few people will be in this position today. At least it's only every 4 years.
