Hi,

I am a Lone parent, am technically still a full time student although as of next week I will have finished my PGCE(successfully).

What will my status be?

Currently I am receiving some help in the form of child tax credits and child benefit. I am currently job-hunting and don't expect to be working as a teacher until after the summer holidays.

Will I be able/expected to sign onto job seekers over the summer and take any job? I wonder how this will work, because childcare is going to be a major issue as I need to sort out a nursery place for my son.

How old is your child? Im assuming young if so claim Income Support or if he is 10 (I think) claim JSA until you find a job.

0800 0556688 is the claims number

Dominique, just to say you could work as a supply teacher until the end of the academic year now you have finished your PGCE.
When I finished mine (many years ago) I worked for two weeks on supply, and then claimed Income Support over the summer.
