im doing a degree with the OU ive got one more year to go after this year.

im just looking at a university website at postgraduate degrees. in the entry requirements it says...

a previous degree at least 2.1

PLUS

the applicant's program of study must have included at least 60 credits of psychology at honours level.

it says applicants lacking this 60 credits need to discuss the possibility of aquiring these further credits prior to applying to the program.

what does this 60 credits at honours level mean? does it mean 60 credits at a super high grade or something?

once ive finished my last year i will have the full 360 credits to earn a degree so what is this extra thing??

i may just be being thick here but dont know

With honours means to also complete the dissertation.

Jazzicatz · 17/06/2010 17:31

But thats probably wrong

juicychops · 17/06/2010 17:37

oh ok. so assuming that is right, do you have the option to do the 'honours' part with all degrees? cos the psychology degree im doing has never mentioned a dissertation

panic over!- just had a PROPER look on the OU website and the psychology degree im doing is a BSc (honours) degree so im assuming that would be enough for what the spec said?

Then maybe you will be graded but without honours. You should clarify with your University

Sounds like you're fine. But you could always mail the uni in question to check your degree is what they're looking for, to put your mind at rest.

I'm sure with the OU you get a degree with 300 credits, but you need 360 credits for the honours part. That could be wrong though!

At my old University everyone got honours unless they just scraped thre with a poor 3rd and it wasnt awarded.

A degree with Honours means you have 360 credits, instead of 300.

My transcripts show Honours level as 3rd year. Year 1 was Certificate level and Year 2 Diploma level if that helps?

I guess the post-grad means you must have done 60 credits of psychology in your final year...
