Where does your baby sleep?

I have a 8 week old dd. During the night she sleeps in a moses basket in our bedroom.
Dring the day we put the moses basket in whatever room we are in. Problem is she is starting to get disturbed by us moving around.
Do you move your baby around to sleep or are they always the bedroom?
I like to keep an eye on her but i also want her to get a good nap. I have a under matress movement sensor and baby monitor so i would be able to hear her. Also my flat is tiny so bedroom is right next to living room.

You're actually 'supposed to' disturb her, to prevent her from drifting into a too deep a sleep associated with FSIDS. Up until 6 months babies are supposed to stay close to their mothers ideally, but some company of some sort.

DD 8 weeks sleeps in her bouncy chair during the day, unless out in the buggy or sling then she'll sleep in them, she goes into her Amby Nature Nest at 18:30 for the night.

At that age, DS took most of his naps either on me or in the sling. Sometimes in the pushchair. If I was at home, I'd sometimes stick him in the bouncy chair but preferred lying back with him on me. His best naps were in the sling.

Now at 8 months he sometimes naps on me, in his cot or sling (rarely in the sling though).

Mostly on top of me during the day, in my bed at night.

Very of anyone who can put their baby down to sleep anywhere at all for any length of time...

my baby slept in a baby bag next to our bed at night,during the day i put the bag on the couch,,big,and she sleeps through vaccuming and washing machines,dishwashers,at first i didnt want her disturbed but i realised then that i wouldn't be able to do anything while she was sleeping,,now she is two months and sleeps in her room,,,alone,,the whole night,,its wonderful,,

What is a baby bag?

DD (9 weeks) has outgrown her moses basket and is now sleeping in her cot in her own room.
Before she outgrew it i always put her down for naps in the cot in her room during the day. i figured that it would be good for her to get used to sleeping there as she would eventually be moving into it but at night she slept in the moses basket in our room.

seemed to work well for her. When she did spend her first night in there she didnt bat an eyelid at the change though does seem to enjoy the extra room.

HotSprocket - hope you don't think I'm being mumsnet stalker but I keep spotting your name on theads (you posted on one of mine) and we both have an 8 week old baby (also my first) and clearly a lot of the same concerns! So just wanted to say hi

In answer to your question - I am lugging the moses basket round the house with me at the moment. She is happy to go down in it at night in our bedroom but less keen in the day - usually naps on my lap but to be honest is reluctant to sleep at all!!

I haven't had the where do i put her to sleep problem today because she hasn't slept! Poor little mite has wind and has been screaming all day she even had her first tear. I thought i was going to cry too!

oh i hate hearing about babies in pain. have you tried coleif for the wind. A friend of mine swears by it.

Coleif is next on the list to try, it's more difficult because i am breast feeding and i think it needs to be added to milk. I have used colisynth (sp?) granules, infacol and gripe water so far. Infacol normally does the trick, but yesterday it was useless.
I think the problem may have been that i had curry the night before, i don't think she liked the chilli. Felt terrible knowing it was my fault. She is back to her normal smiley self today though so fingers crossed she won't be as bad.

You may find that she is starting to take shorter naps anyway, rather than you disturbing her. When DS was a few weeks old, he would sleep for 2-4 hours at a time during the day. At 8 weeks old he would only sleep 45 mins - 2 hours, often only 45 mins. I remember traipsing around town with the pushchair to try to get him to have 'decent' length naps, and just sobbing when he woke up after 'only' 45 mins.

We had a couple of months where all naps were 30-45 mins, and then he started taking longer ones again. I got far too stressed about it all at the time as I didn't realise it was normal for babies to start sleeping for shorter periods of time.
