Wraps seem to cut DS in half!!

Not sure what I am doing wrong? I really want to use reusables and having tried when he was smaller and all they seemed to do was leak, thought I would have another try now he is bigger. Bought 5 Totsbots cotton shaped aplix fastening nappies and a wrap. The problem I seem to have is that to do the wrap tight enough to stop leaks around the leg, it really seems to cut DS in half around the tummy when he sits up. Yesterday I tried again and loosened it a bit so not cutting him in half and within about 20 minutes, we had soaking wet trousers, all round the bum and down the leg!! I have also tried the all in one Totsbots birth to potty nappies and again, to stop them leaking round the leg, they seem to cut into his tummy. Does anyone else have the same trouble of any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Aplix wraps always did that to DS - try some airflow wraps and you'll be fine

I agree with CMOT get a Mothereaseairflow wrap - they have poppers for the legs and seperate ones for the waist so you can tighten them or loosen them to fit you baby.

Oh thanks - will try those then.

i have the opposite problem, fat leg tiny waist we get leaks up his back in some nappies

the totbots all in one is no good for babies with slim legs (as it sounds like yours may have)
try another pocket, sidesnapping will give you more adjustability, tho there are some birth to potty nappies which will suit a skinny legged baby.

if your arnt a member join cloth nappy tree (just google it) they will know more about which brands will suit your babies shape.

and yes try a popper fitting wrap. again make sure its side snapping (ie you do it up at the sides not the front)
weenotions do them, so do motherease.

also if you research it and feel you dont mind a little extra care, wool shorts/trousers are the best covers as it stretches to fit any shape.
