Apparently I am not a lovely mummy. I am not kind. I am cruel and neglectful and dd1 wishes she had another mummy....

She has been sent to her room for 'tapping' her sister on the hand. I do not hit. I do not expect dd1 to either.

Dd1 now says she wishes to leave home. If I don't let her come back downstairs, she is 'telling of me'.

She is already not allowed to play out with her friend or have her friend in here, because of her behaviour last night and this morning.

She is utterly wilful and has no respect for me.

I have had enough. How do I get her to take me seriously? She had to be carried upstairs btw, because she refused to go to her room when I asked her to, because she 'doesn't have to do what I say'

DD1 is very am-dram, too

Lots of door-slamming

Answering back. "Yeah, but.." constantly

Attitude

I like Hullygully's post a lot. TBH, if someone put sanctions on my behaviour everytime I had a whinge, or lost my temper, or answered back or challenged authority I'd be in time-out - a lot

I think they change a lot at 6. I think school has a lot to do with it, too

pigsinmud · 11/06/2010 13:29

Same here. DD1 is 6 and is so rude at the moment. I don't remember my boys being like it at this age - I think it was a bit later. I get the "It's my life you can't tell me what to do" etc.

She tells me she hates me nearly every other day. I don't threaten cancelling events as she would be so upset and I'm not sure how much she would learn from it. She gets quite upset if I shout at her as I don't often shout - I think that's enough.

I had a classic 'You're the meanest mummy in the whole wide world!' moment the other week. My crime? Making the wrong sort of chocolate chip cookies

sethstarkaddersmum I will admit that you sound pretty mean.

I, on the other hand, hate my children. If I didn't hate them, I would let them have coke and chocolate cake for breakfast.

And I let their daddy stay up really late, so I oviously hate having them around or I'd let them stay up too.

As I don't yet have a 6 year old, this thread has me in stitches!

I am quite positive it will not be so funny when I am there IRL....

DS is 4 and wants to sell me on ebay for £1 and use that £1 to buy another mummy who is nicer and bigger.

Kids get articulate and love testing the boundaries with it.

HonneyBollyKnickers · 13/06/2010 20:18

LOL at giveitago's ds: bigger.

having the same problem with ds1 (6.5) and ds2 (4.5). they are taking turns these days.

this evening it was ds1, and i am the meanest mummy, because i washed his hair (and he had only just washed it "two weeks ago"), he wants to be by himself (well, fine, great actually), then complains is lonely, and nobody ever wants to be with him.

i am also mean because i am not giving him a DS, and all his friends have got one. he has now said he will send a letter to santa and ask for one for christmas in stead .

HonneyBollyKnickers · 13/06/2010 20:23

mine say: "uuuuuuh, because i have to!
ds1 started, but now ds2 says it as well, although he usually says it with a bit of a grin on his face, like he knows he's being a PITA

DD (7) decided to go to dancing class without knickers. I only noticed about 3/4 of the way into the class - no VPL under lycra shorts. I was furious!!

She learned her lesson though when the too tight shorts ripped up the bum. She doesn't have to be told twice to get the appropriate underwear on now!!

She has always been a bit high maintenence but I am now getting the door slamming, foot stomping tantrums. Their ferocity is quite breathtaking.

I know I am not much help, but boy have you all helped me!! It's not just me! Wahay!!!
