6mth old won't be held by other people. What can we do?

Just after advice

For the past 2wks my 6mth old DS has been really clingy towards me and my DP and if he's held or cuddled by someone else he starts crying after a minute. Even if I'm right next to him it doesn't matter, he gets himself all worked up.
It's not just anyone, grandparents who he sees all the time and close family/ friends.

Is there anything I can do or is this just a phase he will grow out of (soon).
It's getting hard to leave him already with others ( even going to the loo)
tell me this won't last long.

As in most things, wait. Don't try to force the issue - it will get better quicker if you go with him. I promise -I've been there, done that, bought the t shirt!

Just a phase. He will grow out of it, honestly. But it won't hurt him to cry while you go to the loo, and it will help him to realise that you always do come back.

Just a phase. But keep passing him to a loving grandparent/friend when you need the loo

Just to add to this my daughter was like this and we then discovered she had very poor eyesight and as soon as she got some specs when she was 1-ish she was the life and soul and wanted to go with anyone. We figured that she was scared because she couldn't see the people she was being handed to very well. Not sure if that is typical but thought it was worth passing on!
