When did you remove the head support from baby's car seat?

When are you supposed to remove the head support from a baby's car seat? We have the Silver Cross Ventura Plus. I've read the instruction manual and all it says is to keep the head support for as long as it is suitable - DS (18 wks) looks a little squashed in the seat now!

We took ours out a couple of weeks ago (DS is 20 weeks), primarily because I thought it was making him extra hot in the warm weather and he was looking a bit snug too! I'm not sure when you are supposed to do it but DS is much happier in his seat now. It's amazing at how much more room there is for him and he now sits in it far more happily. At the age of our babies, they pretty much have head control don't they? I would imagine that this is one of the main reasons for not taking it out too soon. I'm glad I have taken it out - maybe try it and see how your DS reacts?
