Sharing bedrooms.

I have dd who is 5, ds1 is 3 and ds2 20 months.

We're thinking about dc4.

We have a 3 bed house, dd has her room and the boys share.

If you have more then 3 in a 3 bed house, how do you work the bedrooms?

This is the only thing stopping me having dc4.

Well i have a 3 bedroom house: 1 bedroom is mine and DH's, one bedroom is shared by DS1 and DS2 and the other bedroom is occupied by my live-in nanny (need live in as I work very anti social hours and DH works abroad for a lot of the time)

I am expecting DC3 (apparently a girl) so will be very interested in any solutions. So far, we have considered renting my lovely nanny her own room outside the home (but this is quite expensive and not always practical) and the second option is to have a loft extension. Third option is to let the 3 children share a room and don't worry about the sexes mixing (it's a biggish room)

Your DC4 could share with your DD when the time comes. Look at it this way, by the time you conceive and give birth to DC4, it will be at least another year, then the baby can share with you for 2 years and then can quite feasibly share with your DD until he or she is school age or even later.

So that gives you 6 years breathing space. You might have won the lottery by then

Loft extension.

We did it when I was expecting DC3. DS1 is up there, DP and I have one room, DS2 and DD have a room each. We're now having DC4 and it will go in with one of the younger ones depending upon sex.

Not sure how it would work for the OP if you had another boy and didn't want to mix sexes, 3 boys in one room could be quite crowded I think.

We had baby in the single room, other 3 in the largest Bedroom, DH & I in the middle sized room.

Then we had bunks in the single room with 2 dc in and the other 2 still in the large room. Child on bottom bunk just slept in there all of her clothes/toys/junk was in the biggest room along with the other 2. The baby used to nap in the travel cot in the single room during the day so the other ones could still play in the large bedroom.

Finally got a loft room built (Not enough head height for proper extension) put the eldest up there, DH and I still in the middle room though.
