Redness in nappy area

DS (5 months, ebf) has some unplasant moist and slightly shiny looking redness in the creases between the rolls of fat in his nappy area. He is very chubby (50th centile for height, 98th for weight) so they are deep creases!

He has similar (although less severe) redness in the folds of his neck.

What can I do to improve it (other than give him more nappy free time)?

He also has some redness between his bum cheeks - there is a line down each cheek where they press together. However, this doesn't look particularly sore or moist like the creases.

I use Bambinex Teddies and MEOS nappies and put Weleda nappy change cream on when it looks sore. I use washable wipes with a solution of cammomile tea, a bit of veg oil and a few drops of lavender oil. I try to dry the creases after I've wiped him. I wash either at 40 with bio and Home Scents nappy sanitiser, or at 60. I always do an extra rinse at the end of the cycle and I only use a very small amount of powder.

Also, do I need to use liners if I'm using nappy cream? At the moment, I put a disposable paper liner on if I'm putting cream on, in case it gunks up the nappies

Any advice would be appreciated, please.

sudocream and metanium are great. I had one child who only ever had lovely waitrose bottom butter but the next one needed something more! Sudocream can also be used on the neck folds.

Thanks, Indith. Do you know if either makes a mess of washable nappies? I would guess that Sudocrem might as it feels a bit 'gunky'.

The poor scrap now has proper nappy rash as well.

I wouldnt use sudocrem on the bottom with washables as it can affect the absorbancy of the nappy. Try a silver nappy liner as the silver acts as a healer and can help decrease nappy rash, as soon as i see DD2 getting red i pop one in before she goes to bed and in each nappy through night and rash is gone by morning. As for the creases in his leg im sure there are some creams you can find around to use with cloth, ive never had to use it but ive seen some posts on here about creams so hopefully someone can help. Good luck

Yes, that's what I thought, peachybums. I have been using silk / silver liners along with pure potions nappy salve, and it seems to be clearing up. He has just cut his first tooth, so I suspect it might be related to that.

Thanks!
