Bugaboo - when to change from pram to buggy

Hello, DD is 18 weeks and is constantly trying to sit up or wants to have a nose and see what is going on. At the mo she is in the pram part of our Bugaboo but she's getting really frustrated and I am ending up carrying her most of the time (and she's becoming a right lump!). When is the best time to change over to the buggy part? We got all the bits out today but it says its not recommended for babes under 6 months. Does anyone know if this is down to the position they are sat in so may effect development? I can't keep on carrying her!

It is better for young babies to lay flat.

But i know what you mean about nosiness. I had a Maclaren pram, which you could have flat or tilt it up at different stages, so as much as possible i had dd laying flat, but when she got really bored, as you describe, i did sit her up for short bursts.

I'm guessing yours is not so easy to switch between?

The Bugaboo's got a flat pram part which doesn't tilt at all and then the seat part which tilts at various levels but the baby would be in a 'seated' position. She looked really cute in it but obviously I don't want to cause any damage to her back.

As for carrying her and pushing a pram...it's a sport in itself with random passers by usually getting run over in the act!!

Hi discodolly. We've got a Bugaboo and our DS went into the sitty-uppy part at about 5 months. We used it in the flattest position and he was only in it for about an hour at a time. Like your DD, he was getting frustrated with lying flat in the pram.

I had my DS in a slivercross pram until he was about 15 weeks then I brought one of those Graco travel systems, I used the flatest position up until he was about 20 weeks and now I put him in the pushchair 1 click up iyswim, unless he falls asleep, then I lay it as flat as it goes. Although he is now 24 weeks old and can sit up unsupported on his own for several minutes so I need to look into this seating position thing a bit deeper.
