Is it bad for baby to sleep on your lap?

I know they shouldn't be in car seats for too long - developing spine and things. But how about sleeping on your lap? DD does seem quite oddly contorted sometimes but she sleeps and thats a good thing!

My 6yo often slept on my lap, kinda in the dent created when I cross my legs and DS2 does all the time as well. His back looks strong and straight.

I think there is probably more "give" to your legs (well there certainly is to mine!) and I thought the main danger with carseats was that there head tended to lean forward and it could get hard for them to breathe after a while?

DS2 sleeps with his head tilted back on one leg his bum in the hole and then his legs up the other side, he looks astonishingly comfortable!

I hope not. We have a 5 o'clock snuggle every evening. I BF her then she drops off and I watch Divided on TV . It's the best half an hour of the day.

Just think how wonderful and secure and safe it must feel to sleep on mummy's lap - and stop worrying!

Thanks all - she's my first and I'm a little paranoid about accidentally damaging her in some way

My DD only slept in my lap in the day until she was 9months, would never nap anywhere else, be careful you don't fall asleep too though.
