Ok so I've just been accepted onto the access course for september and I'm finding it a bit daunting, especially the GCSE maths side of things! I'm hoping to go into mental health nursing at uni, anyone else doing similar? would be nice to go through this with someone else

Hey chickenPsyc. I'm doing a healthcare access this sept. My access course is quite unusual in that it runs for two years. The 1st year was pure science and maths. Maths was my main struggle also and I'm sure I'm going to have to repeat my exam.

The 2nd year I'm starting in september is physiology, biomedical science and the dreaded maths. I'm hoping to go onto do children's nursing although with the current climate really starting to worry about the availability of NHS jobs.

So far I've had a ball. It's great to get the brain working again although quite stressful at times. It's done wonders for my social life and I've made some great new friends of a real mix of backgrounds and ages.

Hi,

Am starting Access to Nursing at South Thames in september (heading into adult nursing) .

I know what you mean about how daunting it all is, all the forms, any conditions that need to be met, potential funding (childcare etc) seems never ending and totally overwhelming . I was advised at my interview to read up as much as I could on some of the subjects especially maths, psychology, a & p and anything else to give a head start,(was given a small req'd reading list). Is helping alot to get my brain prepped and into gear again and am loving it, am really looking forward to the full on study part, not so much the assignments lol.

Have you been on the nursing forum there is some really helpful bits on it, and lovely people on there too. Lots whom are on the access course level.

Can't wait for september to get here and am driving everyone a bit nuts with yabbering about it
