Having a smallish party - 10 or so - for my 3yr old. Don't want to pay for entertainment. Any ideas for games/activities?

I think 10 is too many, but then I always say that on these threads and no one ever listens

i would say no more than the age of the child.

and games? running about with balloons always goes down well...

Short games like pin the tail on the donkey are good. Longer games don't keep their attention but yu could probably get away with pass the parcel with a little gift/sweet in every layer.

Musical statues is good as well.

Definitely keep it very very simple

Give them all a tube of bubbles to upwrap (hence passing 5 minutes...) and get grown-ups/older kids to blow them to chase if you have an outside area.
I did crafts for my 3 year olds party - they decorated crowns, shakers and windmills which more or less dispensed with the need for party bags IMHO and as long as you've got plenty of glue sticks etc means that there's nothing to argue about.
