Just put my dd on the naughty step as she was continuing to throw an ornament across the lounge, and she looked at me with such confusion...

I don't think this is too young, or am I banana's and she's got no idea yet..

Btw this is my 2nd so you'd think i'd remember....lost too many brain cells & I don't!

far too young!

just take the ornament away and then distract her/ do soemthing else

throwing things at this age is not being deliberately naughty

keep your ornaments out of her way

Yes, I think so.

In that situation the easiest solution is to take the ornament away, offer something else, ignore the tantrum if there is a tantrum. And explain in simple terms what you are doing and why.

"I am taking the ornament away because I asked you not to throw it but you still threw it and it might get broken which would make mummy sad".

"I am ignorning you because you are screaming and making a lot of noise and fuss".

etc

Uumm,, I feel bad now. Need to get back into some child development books again...

Thanks, off to cuddle dd and give her extra kisses...

They are supposed to be 2.5 yrs according to supernanny book, and its her technique so I guess she knows?
I do know so many people who put them much younger but I find that a bit ridiculous personally, they don't understand so will just make unnecessary conflict.. (they claim their child was advanced so they could put them early, but they can not all be that advanced!!)
Atleast leave til 2 yrs i would say, if you are in a rush to bring it in earlier than 2.5?
I know my ds wouldn't get it though and he is just coming up to 2
