took dd to a local holiday park wednesday, she has a massive temper trantrum when ut was time to go, she didn't want to leave the rides, the tantrum lasted all the way back to the car, was a massive struggle getting her in the car, then the trantrum lasted all the way home including dropping a friend off on the way.

when we got home i put her in her room for about 3 mins then she calmed right down

she does get put in her room if shes v naughty at home and it does calm her right down

but how can i try and calm her down when we are out?

its a shame because i was planning on taking her to a country park today, but i don't want to, because of what shes like when it's time to go.
which is really sad

Interested in any advice also. How old is she? I am currently trying the 'we are leaving in 10 minutes DD (nearly 3), that it is only a little while' and keep reminding her that soon we have to go, for dinner, to the shops etc it's helping sometimes and others not.

nearly 3 too.

oh yeah i do the we are leaving in 5 mins thing, does seem to help somedays

i don't want to have to bring her home to go to bed to calm down, when we are out.

and we could have had a nice day out today.
but dd doesn't understand shes missed out.

It's tough, I guess I don't avoid going anywhere but I do try and talk to her about it, like tell her what we are going to do and then explain that we have to come away at a certain time.

Maybe trying to make it funny, if we are out in the evening I often tell her we have to go because we are going home to get a big bubbly bath which she loves. I'm hoping that it's just a stage and it will go away soon!
