Cleaning LO's lady bits

Sorry about this, but I just have to ask.

DD1 is phobic about it and I have to wrestle her to get her labia properly clean. To the point where they sometimes get cheesy and sore . Giving them a squoosh in the bath doesn't do the job well enough. It never used to be an issue when she was younger, but has been for a while now, since she was potty trained I suppose, and isn't so used to being wiped properly.

So, how do you do it?

(And what do you call them?!)

Do you use a flannel? I've always used a flannel in the bath with my dds. I encourage my 7 year old dd to do it herself, but sometimes I have to make sure she's properly clean. TBH sometimes I make both of them lie down like a you would changing a baby's nappy. So I can make sure they're not sore/cheesy. Then clean with a flannel and sometimes put cream on. My eldest is a bit squeamish about it now but until she can fully wash herself independantly I just have to keep checking.

Oh and I just call it front bum.

DD1 is only 3. We use the flannel too, but she squeezes so hard that it makes all attempts either inadequate or result in squealing and distress. Sigh.

DD is nearly 9, she uses a puff thing on her bit with some body wash (we especially like fanjo brand). She is a bit haphazard with her cleaning so she often uses her finger to fettle it all out (her words). Her mini lady garden has been named a bit. Singular.
