Help! Wee leak - onto mattress. What to do?

DS has managed to leak out of the top of his nappy wrap, through his vest, babygrow, swaddle blanket, sheet on the bed, towel and non-waterproof mattress protector. Stupidly the waterproof mattress protector was only on my side of the bed (I won't make that mistake again.) .

Annoyingly, he was wearing his fleece soakers for the first time for a while - but he clearly needs the next size up as they don't cover the nappy wrap at the top. I couldn't even work out where the leak had come from, as the nappy didn't seem to be poking out of the top of the wrap.

The mattress feels dry but there is the musty smell of his wee on it. It is a proper pocket sprung adult sized mattress, not a cot one, so replacing it isn't really an option.

Is there anything I can do to clean it up / remove the smell?

TIA

If it feels dry then probably just give it a good airing - in direct sunlight if possible. If it was still damp it suggest sprinkling with bicarb also.

give it a scrub with dettol in water and then leave it to air

Thanks, both. I've duly cleaned it with dettol & water, then sprinkled bicarb on it. I wouldn't normally have dettol in the house, but hooray for the free sample that came with the Bounty pack.

SPB, love the election name!
