how to get a childminder?

I need one as I'm starting work a few hours a week soon. Have no idea where to start in finding one.
Have a 3 year old and a 3 week old.

I also have an interview for college next monday (they arranged it) is it possible to find a childminder so quickly?

My son will probably scream like he's being murdered if a stranger tries picking him up from nursery, which I'll need them to do. And my 3 week old is breastfed, don't want to leave him at all, but need to, to do this work to support my college application.
Only going to leave them one or two afternoons a week..

How the heck do I find a suitable complete stranger to trust with the two most important things in my life?

suggest you find out where your local sure start centre is, child care is their area of expertise! Also there may be a childrens information service attached to it too
Good luck, and trust your mum-instinct to help you choose someone right.
Isn't there a college creche or nursery? Most have one?

Thanks, yes but a childminder could look after both my boys together and take my 3yo to nursery.
I'll ask at children's centre again tomorrow, I asked last time and was met with basically blank stare by staff, I'll have to make it sound very important to see if they can help.
I'll have to cancell that college interview won't i? :-( it's only 5 days away
