Leaking Tots Bots wraps with Bamboozle

I wonder if anyone can tell me what I'm dong wrong!

We inherited some Bamboozle nappies and tots bits wraps frommy sister-in-law and have just started to use them on DS who is nearly 10 weeks. However, the edging of the wraps seems to get soaked every time and so his clothes are getting wet around the leg openings.

I understand that it's usual for the whole of he inner part to get wet - but it's totally sodden when we change him. This is during the day aswell as night.

Is he just very 'wet'? Or do wraps have a shelf life? Or am I doing something wrong?!

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi there

Could be a few things...
a) yes, wraps do have a shelf life in that after some intensive usage, perhaps some tumble-drying, or the odd dry on a very hot radiator, the PUL can start to lose its waterproofing ability
b) your baby might be a 'heavy wetter', meaning that the wraps will start to 'wick' at the edges more quickly - so he needs changing more often than at present, or try some adding some boosters into the nappy (Tots Bots do some bamboo boosters, or pretty much any other booster will do too)

It's also possible that the Tots Bots wrap shape design doesn't suit your baby very well. It didn't always work so well for my DS either... I found that it wasn't a snug fit around the legs, and 'leaked'/wicked quickly as a result.

If this is happening to you, you might want to try another good brand of wraps (perhaps with 'gussets' with your Bamboozles e.g. MotherEase Rikki, Blueberry Coverall or Bummis Super Brite

Thank you!! Have ordered some boosters so will try them, but think I'll also test another wrap style as you suggest.

I found tots bots wraps a bit useless tbh - motherease were better. Although I think tots bots did update wraps at some time.

I find the old style tots bots wraps fine, but the new ones a bit rubbish. I'm sure it varies depending on the shape of the baby though.

I would try a motherease wrap to be honest, have never had any problems with them.

Do try the boosters between nappy and wrap - this will push the nappy closer to your little one allowing it less opportunity to run down the leg and out if the legs are a poor fit on the Bamboozle (possible as the elastic can get a little stretched on a chubby older baby, and thus be not such a good fit on a slimmer newborn

Thanks so much for all your advice, will give it a go and see what happens. Glad to hear it's not just my poor nappy-putting-on skills!

How old are the wraps. I found the old style wraps with a lycra binding just wicked wet onto ds1's clothes. I got some of the new style for ds2 with a different binding and have found them leak proof unless the nappy is absolutely saturated which is because I've forgotton to change him.

Hi tutu. They are a few years old (the nephew they were for is 4 today) so I guess this means they are old ones. The problem I am having is exactly as you describe.

My ds1 is 4 so I guess they probably are the same old style ones that we didn't get on with either.

There are lots of other wraps available. Although I really rate Tots Bots new style wraps. I really liked Motherease airflows for ds1, but the bindings irritated ds2's skin which is why I gave the tots one's a go and he's been fine with them.

I use motherease rikki wraps on my toddler cos the tots bots ones are a bit rubbish. Never had a leak with thse but tots bots she was soaked

I love the motherease airflow wraps with my DD and do not get the wicking issues I get with the TB wrap I have.
