How long in the baby gym?

Hi,

My 3 month old daughter loves the baby gym and plays with the dangling toys for time on end. If I wouldnt take her out she would be playing and smiling for over and hour!

How long is long enough in the gym or is it as long as they are happy?

We have removed the arcs and the hanging toys, and put the lovely mat inside DS's playpen. It makes the playpen a lot softer and happier place. He loves it like that. He is over 2 now.

But how long do babies on average play in the gym by themselves?

DS was fine as long as he could not crawl / shuffle etc. off the baby gym. He first started to shuffle backwards, so he was quite a danger to himself.

It varies from baby to baby - some won't tolerate them at all. Listen, if she is happy, please don't question it, just enjoy it . Honestly, get yourself a coffee and read the newspaper.

Enjoy it! In a few months time she'll be mobile so, even if she's happy playing for that long you'll have to keep more of an eye on her.
From about 3 months my DD would normally be happy on there for about 30 - 40 mins at a time but would sometimes last for longer in which case I left her then. Depending on what I was doing at the time, I would move her around on it, change the toys hanging off it so that she got to see/play with different things whilst down there.
