Separation Anxiety at 2.5?

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can come along and tell me if this is separation anxiety or not, (although I thought that only happened with younger tots).

My DS has been acting quite differently for the last four weeks. Some examples;

Having a complete meltdown if I leave him to go to the toilet. He will cry and cling 'no stay with me mummy'!

I can't go ANYWHERE in the house without him crying 'no don't leave me mummy'.(when he used to do this occasionally it was more out of cheekiness and he didnt used to cry but now he actually sobs).

Mornings are obviously terrible when I have to leave for work, I can hear crying at the bottom of the road and poor DH can't calm him down.

When DH drops him a childminder he can't console him either and cries that he wants his mummy to come back from work.

He won't let DH do anything for him even down to holding his hand and carrying him when we go to the shops.

I feel desperately sorry for DH as he is so patient but I know it must upset him and I also feel sorry for DS and don't know how to handle this situation. I'm not sure why its happening all of a sudden as nothing has changed in our lives to unsettle him. Any advice would be gratefully received!

A stuffed toy to take with him to CM?
Take him with you to the loo/around the house?
Bribery?

Yep I do all of those things BlackYellowRed, I'm just unsure whether I should be trying to teach him that mummy needs to go out of the room sometimes and that DH needs to do things for him too. I thought that at 2.5 he might be able to understand but maybe not, I dont know.

I gave up on going to the loo on my own two years ago, embarrassingly DS even offers to wipe my bum!
