does anyone know of a website i can download fairytales in German language? DS2's nursery is having international week and i am supposed to be reading in German to the kids tomorrow and i forgot all about it and i can't find my DS1's fairytale book. Strongly suspect my mother has put it somewhere since she doesn't approve of DS1 speaking german (his dad is austrian but absent!!)

Have you tried googling the german google site? It should be google.de? And then just naming a common fairytale such as red ridinghood (if you know what it would be in german that would probably be better...but I don't!)

Do you have any particular one that you would like?

Grimm Märchen

but they are pretty hard for DC to understand.

What about things like Alle Meine Entchen?

i've tried google but it only seems to come up with stuff that's on amazon or the brother's grimm that would terrrify the poor wee sods.

i was thinking of the 3 little pig or the 3 billy goats gruff. Had beautiful illustrated fairy tales in German sent for DS1 by his Austrian Oma but my mum doesn't like admitting DS1 is half austrian soi reckon its under the bin at her house.....

Damn it i'm just gonna half to get translating one of the stories myself..... bugger it... thanks all for the help though..

I can have a look upstairs and see what I have. Do you want me to scan something and email you it?

Northumberland Grid for Learning, look here. There are other tales too, including 3 Little Pigs, in four languages - excellent materials! Hope it's not too late.

I ended up taking the english book with me and just doing a sight translation as i went along. Haven't done it in years and was pleasantly surprised to have gotten away with it...

Thank you all for the help and suggestions.....

But do look at that website - 4 languages and my class love the stories!
