How do I help my 4 year old to be more patient ?

DS age 4 has no patience at all. For instance today he was doing some craft and got frustrated that he couldn't stick something together so threw everything off the table, lots of examples like this but this gives you the picture.

I don't know if this is normal behaviour, or a personality trait. My father has no patience either and has broken many a golf club by throwing it away in anger so I'm keen for DS not to grow up like this.

How is best to help him understand that not everything will go his way and to be calm ?
