Books about your baby's first year

Parents, what would you say is the best book you have ever read about common issues in a baby's first year that was full of useful feeding/sleeping (etc) tips that actually work?

Also, what common issues did you feel were lacking information and help for parents when you tried to find out about them via books and the internet? This can be anything from feeding, sleeping, postnatal depression, returning to work etc.

I'm doing a bit of research so any input would be greatly appreciated. I am a parent myself but I would like to know what other parents have experienced.

Thank you.

the best book I had was Babies! by Dr Christopher Green (of Toddler Taming fame) - it was very down to earth and realistic.

The best book I had for early stage was the Harvey Karp book about sleep. God bless my midwives for lending it to me.

tostaky- spot on i love these, they do what to expect, the first year too. i have both these and both are excelent. all children are diferent but its nice to see an average of what they could, should, and may possibly do's to compare to your own. i found jo frosts confident baby care to be really good for parenting more than whats going on with baby too!
