Crop tops for age 3-4 WHY, but when do they become suitable?

Was shopping today and noticed a pants and crop-top set for a 3-4 years olds . I just can not understand why a parent would buy such things for that younger child.

Reluctantly brought dd (nearly 9) some crop tops for the drawer. Her nipples have become darker making her very self conscious, so really to hide them if needed. I have mixed feelings, she's to young and why not wait till a bra is needed. At the same time if it makes her more comfortable about her changing body where's the harm.

What's everyones opinions on crop-tops.

for 3-4 year olds!

9 sounds sensible.

I still wear them at 35 .

Maybe they want to dress like mummy?? Poor mummy's tits would be able to sweep the floor if she used one of these for support though.

DD1 is 8 and has one.

I wore one at 8 and had a bra at 11. I am not exactly booby though!

Would not buy one for a 3 yr old though.

"Maybe they want to dress like mummy??" Ok but what if mummy wear a g-string is it still ok to be like mummy.

Where do we draw the line from childhood to adult?

I remember my mum buying me camisoles and crop tops when I was getting too old to wear a vest but had no norks to fill a bra. All of my friends were wearing bras and I felt really silly with my vests. I guess I was about 11 or 12yo.

My DD is almost 8yo. I would not buy her cropped tops yet.

When I read the title I thought it was about summer tops and shorts. There is no way on this earth that my 8.11 would get one. She doesn't need one and probably wouldn't want to wear one anyway.
Luckily for us, she hates shopping for clothes and would rather look like daddy than mummy.

I remember having crop tops (the very 70s fashionable crincly elasticated tops with spagetti straps, anyone remember those?) at about 5 years old. I have photos to prove it! It was stippy pink and orange. I used to wear it with red shorts. Nice.

Just to clarify I was meaning crop-tops as underwear.

Marks has lots of examples here

DD1 has the hello kitty ones. No ruching to make it look more like a bra.

She is only 8 and obv has not developed breasts yet, but she was growing out of her vests and wanted to have crop tops instead. I don't see what the problem is?

She knows they are not bras and tbh, loves them simply beacuse it's hello kitty!

As I said before, I wouldn't let DD2 have them (she's 5).
