There seem to be quite a few experienced student parents on here so thought I'd just ask for a bit of advice - I am a PT postgrad research student with a studentship, my dh currently works FT in the private sector but hates his job and wants to retrain as a social worker. So he's thinking about applying for the 2 year full-time SW masters.
We are just wondering where this might leave us financially - we live in London, and my stipend is modest to say the least. We know he could apply for a bursary, but we will still be unable to survive on these two alone. Does anybody know if we would be likely to get HB, IS, or the childcare grant etc? We will have two DDs by the time he would start the course, both under 5 years.
Any advice/experience would be gratefully received! Thanks in advance.
