Alternative to Bambino Mio wraps - advice needed

When DD was born I did the stupid thing of going off and spending a fortune on a whole load of Bambino Mio nappies rather than trying out a range of reusables to work out which ones were best. DD is now 12mo and on the whole I have been v happy with using reusables and as DC2 is due in the next few weeks I'm looking forward to using them with another one as well.

I don't want to go off and buy a whole new system now having invested the money in the BM ones but I have noticed that the wraps really don't seem to last too well and that they seem to dig in to DD a bit.

Is there a good alternative to the BM wraps that I can still use the actual cloth nappies in?

Bummis, proraps, cotton bottoms (this are old bummis wrap but are normally cheap on ebay) and nature babies are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

get the nappylady.co to do a free assessment

as it really depends on drying n washing and storing etc unique to your household.

Then sell your system on here, nappy thread area, and start again

Bambino mio are spose to be shocking awful, v close to folded terrys from the old days.

I use bambinex teddies

love em

When I was using them there were 3 different types of bambino mio wraps. I did find the mio-gentle ones a whole lot better.

new flip wraps from bumgenius are AMAZING. Never used a wrap like them - the rest just don't compare. Birth to potty size so I use them on both my kids and they hold even the most explosive breast fed poos!
Highly highly recommended. I was lucky to get them when they first came out at 2 for 1 but there's a few places running offers on the wraps atm. I think you can get a pack of the new flip eco sposies free with the wrap.
Google it + good luck

Thanks for the suggestions....just got excited as I've been able to hang nappies out to dry in the sunshine for the first time this year...it's the little things in life that make me happy

I got some bambino mio prefolds from ebay second hand and use them with the bumgenius flip wraps, they are amazing.

comeonbishbosh · 09/04/2010 16:42

So, if you have bambino mio prefolds, do they fit into the bumgenious flip wraps? I've got a pack of size 1 bambino mios that I bought second hand, will these inserts do me birth to potty or will I need different inserts as the wrap size gets bigger?

Am thinking of just buying a few flip wraps, but if I'll need the flip inserts later on I guess I'd be better off getting the wrap + inserts bundle.

fiziwizzle · 27/05/2010 09:00

Bump. I'm having problems with the bambino mio wraps, they were secondhand so maybe that's the problem but they LEAK and it is so frustrating. So I'm after another wrap that I can use with the nappy inserts. Will bumgenius flip wraps work?

littleomar · 27/05/2010 19:48

bump again, with exactly the same issue as fizziwizzle.

don't want to splash out on bumgenius if they don't fit...

Do make sure you wrap the prefolds round your baby and secure on with a Nappi nippa so it's all contained within the nappy - might stop the wrap leaks too.

Alternative wraps such as Bummis Super Whisper and Bummis Super Brite (for funky prints) are great with prefolds, alternatively Proraps are a very good reliable budget no frills white wrap, or if you wanted poppers the Nature babies range are good too.

Motherease Rikki all the way here! I have tried a few different ones but always come back to these, they are so reliable and don't ever dig in to the baby's legs.

SuseB · 03/06/2010 11:15

Just wanted to say that we have used Mothercare smart nappy outers interchangeably with the Bambino Mio ones and find them excellent (and bought them with vouchers!). Like you didn't want to spend more than I needed to. I have both sizes of BM prefold and several sizes of outers in BM original and Mothercare.

TeamParent · 26/07/2010 15:24

We used Motherease Rikkis with aplix/velcro fastening with general cotton prefolds/flat nappies. We also used Nature Babies wraps with poppers which were very adjustable (birth-potty) and Bambino Mio (the old MioSoft) wraps. All 3 wraps contained most of the breast-feeding poos of our three daughters

All wraps can be used on different nappies, and they can be shaped nappies or the flat prefold nappies. If you are using prefolds/falt/folded nappies like we did then choose a wrap with an elasticated gusset. Eg Motherease Rikki rather that the Motherease Airflow!

My favourite wrap by far was the Nature Babies wraps. Soft, stretchy, quick to dry and very adjustable. Funky patterns too!!!
