14 month age gap

Please talk to me about a 14 month age gap. What were the most difficult bits of having 2 under 2s? Can you give me any tips on how to deal with this? Did dc1 accept dc2 quickly? Did they become good friends as they got older? Did you spend time doing things with both of them together or make an effort to do different things with each dc? Any tips are most appreciated. DD1 is 10 months and dc2 is due in August.

My best fiend has this gap and it is very tough to start with as you have 2 babies with very different needs.

They are now great friends and have lots of fun.

She now has 4 within 5 years. She looks a bit older !!!! I also have 4 and i to look older.I don't think I have slept well for 10 tears LOL great fun though.

Congrats on your pg teddybare .

My boys are 16 mths apart, so not very different, and the first six months were very very tough (they are now 6mths and 22mths). However, they both already love being with each other and the smiles they give each other are heart melting!

I don't think DS1 really remembers a time when DS2 wasn't around which is lovely.

I do try and spend time doing things on their own with them, esp DS1. So when my mum is up she often looks after DS2 while I go and meet up with my NCT group on my own so he gets my undivided attention. We are also lucky enough to be able to afford to keep DS1 in nursery 2 days a week which means DS2 gets my undivided attention on those days!

DS1 didn't seem to be too concerned about the arrival of his brother at first, but we have recently had some hair pulling/biting etc which seems to be related to jealousy, but we're hoping it's only a phase.

Good luck x
