What sort of checks does your child have?

Someone just mentioned a 2 year check.
DS is 2 1/2, hasn't been seen by HV since he was 8 months old. Had the odd visit to GP. And had all his jabs. Are they supposed to have regular checks?
Have no issues with any areas of his progress, I'm just a bit worried we are falling out of the system somehow!

it depends on ur area i think
ds1 has had literally nothing! ds2 had 6 weeks check, thats all..
i might try to ask for a 2yrs check for ds1 but previously wen i asked for checks was told they dnt really do it around here :S

ds hasnt had a check since his 8 week one. They dont do 8 month or proper 2 year checks in this area now. It is left up to the parents to visit the hv if they feel there is a problem.

In our area there is nothing but the 6 week check done by the GP. Health visitors mainly do child protection work. I think that the logic is that governant thinks we should all be good little worker ants and put our babies with professional childcarers who will spot development problems.

ds is due a 2.6 yr check... but they're running behind he has yet to get an appt for this check. I did mention it to the hv the last time I took dd there and they said they're nothing terribly complicated, they check you're happy with your dcs speech and development and offer any advice for any toddler related problems, fussy eating, bedtime traumas etc. They also weigh and measure height.

I'm going to get ds's done only because I'm curious. I've not got any worries really, but I'm interested to hear if they've got any gems of advice I haven't heard.
