I have a 7wk old and he has the problem of wind! He can bring up burps but has a really hard time passing wind in the bottom region!! I have tried all i know, different positions - over the shoulder, sitting up and patting his back, over my knee, on his tummy, lying flat and ive also tried Dentinox, gripe water, colic drops but all seem to fail to help him, any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!!

Have you tried 'cycling' his legs?

I've heard a warm bath and then the cycling legs mentioned above helps - or a gentle massage of his tummy in a clockwise direction. (that's the way the bowels go so it helps with constipation, I'm guessing it can't hurt for trapped wind there too!)

using thumb and forefinger to circular massage in leg creases helps, just either side of tummy.

How do you know he needs to pass wind? if he's brought it 'up', then what makes you think he needs to bring it 'down'?

I had good success with easy-digest formula and Dr Browns bottles.

Warm baths and infracol worked for us.
