7 month old and night feed

Hi all,

my ds is almost 7 months and wakes up every morning at 3.30 am like clockwork, he is up for about an hour and a half and will then sleep for another hour or so. He doesn't cry when he wakes he just wants to get up and play, the only way we can get him back to sleep at all is by giving him a bottle. When I spoke to hv she told me he was too old for a night feed and not to feed him until morning. He has a bottle at about 7pm and is sleeping by 8pm everynight.

Does anyone else still have night feeds at this age?

xx

Honestly, I think your HV is talking rubbish.

Give him a bottle if you want and it works for your DS.

Perhaps he is thirsty in the night? Perhaps he is hungry. He is only seven months old, I am 37 and I have a drink of water in the night when I want one.

My DC were having more than one night feed at that age, they both sleep through now.

My DS was still having a dreamfeed at 10pm at that age which saw him through the night - a couple of times we stopped it and had to re-introduce it when he had a growth spurt. Even now at 13 months he ocassionally wakes in the early hours and will only settle after some milk.

Have you tried re-introducing a feed at 10pm-ish ? Maybe do that for a while to avoid the night feed.
