Hi im after some tips if anyone can help, my DD is 5 and when she was 2/3 her hair just went mad with curls looked like annie but it always looked great just with washing.

However now its long and curls have dropped so its wavy starts about half way down her head. But the problem is it now just always looks like scruffy and like wragtails if thats the right desciption!!

When shes been swimming i dont know why must be the chlorine but it curls up lovely and looks gorgeous. I have poker straight hair so dont really know how to treat it. I have a tangle teezer as it does tend to get knotty and they are quite moody about that at this age. But how should i be washing it, what products so others use????

She looks soo pretty when its looked after properly and like a child living on the street when its not!!!

Anyone got curly hair or children with it who can help me out please????

Our dd1 had very thick curly hair from puberty as did I so, (remembering that i hated my short curly hair more frizz than curls!) I left my DD's long and at least you can then put it up in a pony tail or bunches whatever. She is now 30 and relaxes it but it is still long.

Washing it was a trial of course but i read on here that if you use conditioner instead of shampoo it keeps it pretty and less frizzy (I have tried and can vouch for it).

Get some frizz free serum and apply it every day. It helps to keep the waves separate and neat. Makes a huge difference to my hair which is very wavy.

My daughter is 2 1/2 with very curly hair and I have recently had a revelation with caring for her hair. This site helped a lot - it's a lot about very curly hair but my friend's duaghter's hair is wavy and she follows a lot of it too to keep her hair nice - www.tightlycurly.com/welcome/

In a nutshell:

  • don't ever brush her hair when dry, it'll frizz up, comb it only when smothered in conditioner
  • don't rinse out the conditioner, then in the morning smooth on some water and conditioner to renew the curls

I've got dead straight hair so it's been a real learning curve for me (my daughter has hair just like Annie too, very curly and red). I was getting to a point where her hair was beginning to look like rats tails and this site has been a life saver!

In terms of products I love Organix Shea Butter shampoo and conditioner which you can buy in larger boots.

good luck
