Today I gave in and from tomorrow we are starting the PASTA JAR thing

Because I have had enough

Specificially : Not listening and being VERY VERY noisy, all the time

HAve not tried it before. They are old enough to 'get it' (6 and 3.6), I think

Am tired of having to repeat myself 1000 times to get something simple done and am fed up of the shouting/banging/slamming/jumping

They are lovely DC, they're not naughty and are generally well-behaved but they are very "yeah, but.." and don't have any volume control (esp the younger one)

So any tips about how to proceed will be much appreciated. Cheers

watching with interest...we're a week into our pasta jar (it's very small, with large penne pieces!!)

At the moment we're half-way through, which has resulted in taken-away toy being returned.

A full jar = new scooter (which we would probably have bought anyway as dc1 has grown out of old one and dc2 is inseparable from it...)

what is the 'pasta jar thing' please?

like a star/reward chart, but you give pasta shapes instead which fill up a jar.

Think I'm doing mine a bit differently - which is probably the wrong way, but hey-ho

Jar has 20 bits of pasta

Take away a piece if either has repeatedly not listened/carried on being loud despite warnings etc

Pieces go back in as a reward for good behaviour/listening foirst or second time or something

If not enough pieces in jar, consequence will result (I need to think what this will be - but with Easter hols coming up am thinking "right, we can't go swimming today" or something)

I normally hate these things, don't think they work etc but am going to give it a go
