my baby is nearly 7 weeks old and find that when i put her down in her moses basket or crib she she seems really uncomfortbale?

What happens at night time is, she may sleep quite happily and still for an hour then she starts thrashing around her arms and legs rubbing at her eyes, shouting out, grunting and straining as if she has wind but she is still in a light sleep.

Eventually this will wake her up and she will be screaming, i sooth and wind her again but the same happens as soon as i put her back down.

she sleeps best in her car seat or on my chest and dont know if this because she is propped up a little?

i hate to think she is pain beacause of something else other than wind. she sometimes also sounds if she is gagging but no sick comes up.

any adivice??

Reflux, maybe? I think they can have it without being very sicky. Have you tried propping uip one end of her bed? Might help.

Can you try putting some books under the head end of her basket, so it's on a tilt?

I would suggest silent reflux - DD1 did this and Gaviscon fixed it. I never found out if DD2 had reflux, because she would only sleep on her front....

I have a friend with 2 DCs both of whom have severe lactose (and later gluten and wheat) allergies. Neither child will sleep on their back, they only sleep on their fronts. (when I say they won't, they literally scream for hours). I know it's against the guidelines, but surely some sleep is better than none?
