Teaching English to foreign kids abroad - CD/DVD/book recs pls

Hi

I'm not a mum myself but I'm trying to find suggestions to help my friends please. Many of my friends in France would like to teach their children English. All the mums understand English (and the Dads understand a little) but none of them use it regularly. I'm trying to find them resources (ideally that I can buy cheaply in England) to help them learn.

The kids are 18 mths - 7 years. 4 of them live near each other so ideally if I can get them different things they can swop

The eldest, who's learning to read, already has an English/French picture dictionary but is struggling with the pronunciation.

I'd like to get some CD/book combinations like I had as a child (well mine were tapes) but I'm also thinking some DVDs would be good. Does anyone know of DVDs that teach nursery rhymes and their actions without any talking in between - and ideally with the words on the screen? Or anything else that's good?

Thank you for your help

I've been using Peppa Pig DVDs with my daughter (21 mnths) and they are really fantastic - not sure if they do book-dvd combos, but the dvds alone are a great way of teaching basic english in various, kid-friendly situations. I've been using it with my class of 4 yr olds and they keep asking for the 'pig episodes'
